Some of the Toxic-Tobacco Law's most enthusiastic supporters are young people.

The Toxic-Tobacco Law Coalition needs supporters of all ages. And, young people like you can contribute a great deal because you have new ideas and are open to new ideas.

Our petition urging Congress to pass the Toxic-Tobacco Law can be signed by supporters of all ages. Some people say that members of Congress only care about citizens who can vote for them. And, that the Toxic-Tobacco Law Coalition should not waste its time collecting signatures from youngsters who can't vote. We don't agree at all.

We are in this venture for the long haul and by the time Congress is ready to consider the Toxic-Tobacco Law (actually a "bill"), you will be voters. Besides, why shouldn't you be able to urge your government to "do the right thing" regardless of whether or not you can vote. You have a great stake in preventing the toxic-tobacco companies from attracting new users by their glorifying smoking as the way to be cool, sexy, macho, slim, independent and sophisticated.

Here are some ideas for you to consider in order to get involved:

  • Collect 5 petition signatures at your school or place of worship.
  • Take creative photos of friends and family in their edgy Toxic-Tobacco Law T-shirts.
  • Be in charge of this section ("Under 18") of our website.
  • Write articles or letters to the editor about the Toxic-Tobacco Law for your school or local paper.
  • Bring the Toxic-Tobacco Law to the attention of other organizations in your community, particularly youth oriented groups.
  • Use your artistic, musical or writing talent to spread the word about the Toxic-Tobacco Law.
  • Send e-mails to your friends about the Toxic-Tobacco Law.
  • Send us your ideas about how young people can contribute to passing the Toxic-Tobacco Law.

We are open to discussing any and all your ideas. Please let us hear from you.
